Tony McAndrew praised Samir Carruthers after the midfielder answered his coach's call for more goals to earn Villa a point.
Prior to the game, McAndrew had encouraged Carruthers to get himself into goalscoring positions more often.
And the midfielder responded in style by netting his first goal of the campaign.
The visitors had taken the lead before Carruthers won possession and skilfully executed a fine lob to equalise on the stroke of half-time.
